Little Nathan { Calgary newborn photography}

I was so waiting to meet him !! When Angi and Jenn came to my studio for the pregnancy photo session, I felt blessed to meet them. I like their personalities, how they act and are open to discuss everything. (look at their pictures here : Angi and Jenn ).

When I knew their bundle of joy was born, I was so excited to meet him :-)

One week prior the session, a friend of mine came along to buy a few props and I was all set to meet Nathan.

This little guy is PERFECT !!

I spent 3 hours with him, he slept a tiny bit, and what a model :-)

I ended up with more than 60 pictures and it was so hard to make a selection to post !!

What a blast with those 2 !! They are amazing.

They are expecting a little Tristan for Christmas and meanwhile, they enjoy life and wait.

Jessie allowed herself to be very feminine during this photo session, she is beautiful.

I know they can't either, but I can't wait to meet their little boy :-)

Santa Claus is coming to town ...... {Calgary family photography}

Last sunday was the Airdrie Women in Business Association christmas market. I'm attending this market every year for 3 years now as it allows me to showcase my work, to meet some new people and ......to shoot Santa Claus !!!

This year, just like last year, we were super lucky to have Santa Claus spending the whole day with us and we took a lot of pictures of him with the children.

What a fun day we had :-)

I'm looking forward for next year's market, same location, same team :-)

All the profits of this day went to the Red Cross, and the members also wanted their picture with Santa.

Little Paige (you saw her here, when she was 1 month old : Baby Paige ) really enjoyed it !!

My two little Boyfriends, Jaxon and Cooper (see them here : 2011 and here : 2010 ) came to see santa.

I loved this day, I loved seeing some of my past customers and friends coming with their children.

Almost 2 years ago, I was at the airport to pick up some family members coming to visit us when I met Jessica. She had a tiny little baby in her arms, and was waiting some family members as well. We had a chat and she took my business card before we all left.

2 weeks ago, she sent me an email to book with me for her family photo session, asking if I remember her. Of course I do, her baby was so tiny and cute, how to forget ??

So I went to their beautiful house in the SE of Calgary and took the pictures.

2 beautiful little girls, Zoey and Priya 2 and 4 years old. As blond as we can get, fun to work with and super smily !! Megan, 16, beautiful young woman, she is into photography so she doesn't really like having her picture taken, but I had some beautiful pictures of her, I'm very happy with the result.

Thank you very much Jessica for contacting me after 2 years (I'm actually impress you still had my business card :-) ), I loved coming to your house and meeting your whole family.

Beautiful little Sofia. {Calgary family photography}

Aline and Oliver are some very good friends of mine. We met in 2007 and since then we keep in touch on a regular basis, even thought they live in High River (about 90 kilometres fromAirdrie).

When daniel was born, I was honoured to be able to take his pictures. We did it again when he was 9 months old, and then when he was 15 months old and ...... well, I love shooting them :-)

They printed a few pictures from their last year photo session and framed them. One of them is a beautiful enlargement they put in the staircase. Every single time I see this picture, I'm impress by how beautiful it is.

This picture, Sarah saw it and she told Aline she would like me to take her family photos. After a short phone conversation and a few emails, I drove down to High River and I met her and her family. What a lovely family and a beautiful little girl !! We spent about 2 hours together and I discovered a magic place thanks to Sarah. We went by the river, taking pictures on the river bank, sitting on the trees, on the rocks and .......... blowing bubbles !! I really enjoyed this afternoon, Thanks you very much Aline for giving my information to your friend, and thank you Sarah for allowing me to take your pictures and to meet your family.

When Angi contacted me she wanted some pregnancy photos. Jenn and her are expecting a little Nathan, supposed to show up mid/end of November. We did this pregnancy photo shoot, and when they left my home based studio, I said to myself : what a pleasure to meet them. I love people when they are so natural, they are expecting a beautiful change in their life and they cherish every second of the wait.

I can't wait to meet Baby.

Beautiful little Hiwet {Calgary Baby Photography}

In march 2010, I took Ayda and Amanuel's engagement photo session at Fish Creek Park ;

and then in August 2010, Evgeniya came along to cover their wedding ( click HERE to see the post).

Friday night, they came to my house to introduce their new little girl : Hiwet. She is almost 2 months old, and she is simply : PERFECT. What a beautiful little girl.

It was for me, a very emotional moment as I know Ayda for more than 2 years, I follow them for more than a year (when it comes to big events in their lives) and now I met Hiwet.

This is a part of my job I love the most : meeting people and going along their life by capturing the most important moments.

Congratulations Ayda and Amanuel for this perfect baby.

Teagan and his parents. {Calgary Family Photography}

What I really like with this job (or this passion, or may be that passionate job ??? ) is that I meet some new people all the time. Last year, Gauthier (my 8 years old) talked to me about his friend Teagan. You know, even if you want to get involved in your children's life, sometimes you are just not really into the stories. Well, that's what happened and that day I must have been busy and I didn't really listen (I know, that's bad.... but I'm just a Mom, not a super Mom.....).

Last week, I received an email from a woman asking for my availabilities for a photo session. After a few emails, we booked a date and time and scheduled everything for us to meet and to do this photo session. She asked me if I was Gauthier's mother. At the end, she is the famous Teagan's mom and it was just normal that I took Gauthier along that day.

I enjoyed a lot being around Lucie and Dean, they are simple people as I like. It was a nice time spent with nice people.

Little Ronak is going to turn 1 end of November, meaning that when he came on saturday, he was only 10 month and a half old. This little boy is full of energy, doesn't walk but runs, smiles and laughs ...... he spreads happiness around him. He is a positive character.

In August I was thrilled to photograph Ewinet and her husband as she was 8 month pregnant.

After a little bit of complications, now everything is back to normal in their life and I was able to meet beautiful baby Solyana.

Beyond the Vine {Airdrie commercial photography}

This morning I went to Beyond the Vine to shoot a few pictures for their advertisement.

Amazing store where you can buy everything to make your own wine. I was impress : well, don't forget I'm French, from south west of France, close to Bordeaux ...... meaning that wine is part of my culture :-)

Sue explained me how it works, the process to make our own wine or beer, and then came the degustation.

Wow ............. :-)

Super shooting with a very nice person, I learned a lot and I'm looking forward for attending one of her class about making wine.

Last year I met this family, I remember leaving this house thinking these people are part of the nicest I have met since we moved to Canada ( see the post here : D's Family ).

For my biggest pleasure Chelle and I shared a few coffees since then, and last week I went back to their place, with my flash (the famous flash Cooper wanted to take last year), and my camera.

The more I see those 2 little boys, the more I love them. They are so adorable, they give me a big hug every single time I see them, I take them in my arms and if I could stop the time and stay like that, hugging theses little guys for hours, I would do it.

Well, I have to give them back to their parents ........ :-)

End of summer in Telegraph Cove (Canada Nature Photography)

When the boys came back after spending 1 month and a half in France, we picked them up at the airport and drove all the way to Telegraph Cove, after a little one night stop in Cowichan Bay. These are actually my 2 best places on Vancouver Island. We met Norman in Cowichan who towed the boat up to there for us. And then, after fishing a few crabs and fixing a few things on the boat, we headed up to Telegraph Cove.

We spent a total of 10 days over there, fishing, whale watching every day, bear watching, seal and sea lions watching, salmon eating and doing nothing but enjoying. Is there a way to spend a whole life like that ?? Well, we had a lot of fun and some priceless family time.

I have met a lot of babies in the past 2 years, taken pictures of little boys, of little girls ..... I have been granted with amazing shots coming from all these babies ... but last week I met Katarina. First feeling I had coming into this house was : bunch of love. I mean Love with a capital L.

On every single picture I opened to deal with on Photoshop I surprised myself saying, at loud : this little girl is so beautiful. Let me tell you I'm burning a CD with 54 pictures on it, so I told at least 54 times : she is beautiful !!! It's simply because she is :-)

I first met Dawn as she was managing the hotel where was held one of my wedding's reception. She also made an awesome job on the bride's hair and make up.

She called me a few months later to see if I was OK to take some pictures of her husband's catering company.

Of course I was !!

So I met Mike and I really liked working with him. Now they both work together, as their company is expanding big time in Airdrie, and every time I go back, I see both of them :-)

Calgary modelling photography.

Harley called me on a thursday asking if he could come the next day for a head shot photo shoot. He showed up half an hour early, a little bit stressed out and relaxed right away when he saw that my laptop wouldn't tether with Evgeniya's camera !! well, it worked fine with mine :-)

Anyways, we had some fun because this young aspiring actor id extremely nice, a little bit shy and very well-behaved.

Calgary - Airdrie Wedding Photography.

Back in March I have made the encounter of the year (for me ) Leah. This woman came to my house and we spoke about her wedding. For now, nothing different than usual, but ..... After 2 hours spent together, she left, leaving behind her footprint in my mind. She taught me how be strong and what True love means.

After a day or so, she called me asking if I wanted to be her photographer for her wedding. For me, no doubt, I wouldn't have missed this day for an Empire.

In order for me to know who will be the Lucky one getting married with her, we did an engagement photo shoot. We met in Airdrie, between 2 showers, and had a lot of fun.
Evgeniya came along as she would be my assistant for the wedding. It was a nice day, we had some beautiful pictures, more than enough to print the guest book :-)

Calgary Graduation Photography.

The 29th of June was the Graduation ceremony at the Francophone school : Ecole de la Rose Sauvage.

I was the official photographer for this event. It was the first time I was attending this kind of event as in France we don't do it like that. Usually, once graduated, the students just go for a party at one of the student's house and that's it. For mine, we partied at the beach, by Bordeaux, it was fun, we all slept on the beach and got waken up by the Police, because of course, it was not allowed to sleep on the beach !!! It was fun.

That said, let's go back to my first graduation here in Canada !!

I almost cried, even thought I didn't know those young adults, I felt emotional when they all started their speeches, I enjoyed a very good meal and I loved taking those pictures. At 11 PM, 4 or 5 of them helped me to pack all my stuff (lighting, stands, cameras ....) and carried everything to my car. It was nice, very nice.

Thanks all of you for offering me the opportunity to be there for this big day in your Student's life. I wish all of you all the best for the future.

Telegraph Cove, Vancouver Island, BC

We got lucky to be able to spend 4 days in Telegraph Cove (Vancouver Island, BC). This place is running out of the time, it's an historic site where small businesses grow quite well, where fishermen go along with yacht owners, where the time found its true value, where happiness can find its spot without a difficulty.

Does it seem I fell in love with the spot ?? It sure did. Marina, bald eagles, dolphins, people .... everything over there is just perfect.

Today was "mountain day". I picked Evgeniya up at Cochrane, and together we headed to the mountains. We drove about 400 kilometres, saw some elks, 2 black bears, 1 grizzly, a few birds, 1 porcupine ....... we had lunch at Lake Louise, we stopped at Moraine Lake, and after a stop at the hawk's nest and a quick look at Vermilion lakes, we went back to Calgary.

Well, I'm sorry for my followers but I have a few days missing. Now, let's go back to the daily challenge and today's picture was taken from the nook of my house, throughout the window as it was raining. This heron is coming every single day to fish, he stays about half an hour and flies away.

Another Bald Eagle : they are so rare on Alberta and so "everywhere" in BC, I could have spent my whole weekend looking at them.

We decided to escape the bad weather and to go back to the ocean we miss so much. So, Thursday night we went to the airport and flew straight to Victoria. One night in the capital and we take the road to the centre of the island. We stopped by Cowichan Bay where we booked a Whale watching tour with an amazing company we really recommend (you can find here : http://oceanecoventures.com/ ). You know, even if we didn't see any orcas (a bit disappointing as we really wanted to), we spent an amazing 3 and a half hours on the water with Simon. I'm always impress by people who LOVE their job. This man LOVES the ocean, LOVES the whales and is very interesting to listen to. He took the time to explain us the migration of the Humpback whale (and that's very interesting), as well as their habitat, diet and much more. So at the end of the day we saw some harbour seals (nicknamed Rock sausages !!, wonder why ?!?! ), we went quite close to a Humpback whale, we came across 2 minke whales, a few dolphins .....

We ended the day with a beautiful sunset.

It couldn't get any better.

Calgary nature photography.

I decided yesterday I would go to the mountains to empty my mind and make some decisions today. I did it, and I loved it. The weather was awesome, not too many tourists yet, the deers, elks and squirrels were there as well.
I drove up to Johnston Canyon, walked to the upper waterfall and drove back going by the Hi-way 1A.
I have made my decisions and now, I fell good.

I stopped by the Vermillion Lake and shot this picture. To bad it was a little bit windy but ......

In spite of the bad weather, I have been lucky enough to drive by this tiny lonely barn between two showers.
I love the contrast between the green and the brown. This place is also amazing during the winter, in 6 months from now I'll stop again to take a pic when it's all white and frozen. For now, let's enjoy the spring and its rainy days :-)

Daily Photo Challenge

Well, I know I'm late for posting my photographs, but here they are.
Actually, last weekend we decided to stay home (once in a while, it's not bad to stay home for the weekend), but we didn't really stick on what we decided and we went to the mountains to see a bit of wildlife. It was not a trip for nothing as we saw some swans, moose, deers, wide range of birds and a black bear.

I realized I really need a teleconverter or a bigger lens because the swans and the bear were way to far to have any good shot. Next time, I hope.

Here are a few pics I shot during this past weekend.

Driving back to Airdrie, I saw this guy, standing on a pillar and looking at his fellow hawk. The other one had a mouse as a meal and that one wanted to take it. They disagreed about who is going to eat it and the frustration was there !! Hawk's life is hard.

Since January 2011, I'm posting 1 photo day. This challenge helps me to improve my skills and to learn to see creativity. Of course, what I am inside, and what I love is expressed through this challenge, that's the reason why I have lots of pictures of wildlife and sceneries. BUT I'm also shooting some other stuff.

So far, I used to post directly on my Facebook page, but I decided to change that and to post here, as my blog is a little bit forgotten. It has been too long since I post here, so I'm going to change that and to post everyday.

I know Joan for 4 years, I see her almost once a week, at least twice a month, and never, until last year, we spoke about her having her family pictures taken by me.

We booked an appointment last year, but her son was working, her husband was on the road, her daughter was not home ........ a family picture without the whole family is not a family picture !!

Finaly we made it, the same day than Chelle's, in the afternoon.

I loved it because it's always nice to meet the people you know in their own environment, it tells lots about them.

What a blast with this family.

Chelle called me on friday asking if I had an opening on Saturday, which I hadn't so we booked on Sunday at 11.

They live in a beautiful place just outside of Airdrie. There is a lot of mature trees, a beautiful fence of trees, some snow (lots of snow) ........ they have a barn on their lot and they offered me to use it as a background if I have a wedding or engagement photo session ......... wow, I couldn't believe how nice they were.

2 little boys full of life and extremely cute, little Cooper (2 years old) made me laugh when he decided he would trade some of the Xmas presents against my speedlight, he kept on coming with some wrapped boxes and tried to take my flash, he was so funny !!

That was one of the most intense and amazing photo session I have ever had. Jaxon (3 years old) gave me a big hug and a big kiss when I left, this little guy made my day. I loved it and I'm very happy I met these people, I hope we'll keep in touch and we'll share one of those French meal we talked about.

When Ivan contacted me for his family photo session, we planed it on a sunday, thinking we will have enough time to play with the kids and to have some nice candid shots. The thing with the plan is : when you make a plan, be ready not to stick on it !!

They came late, they had to leave early .......... wow : it was tight but, we made it.

Jessica was busy with the baby : a cute little 7 month old little princess, lots of different outfits ......

Meanwhile, the two eldest were making their own business on the side.

Marco is a very quite little boy, he was having his nap when they arrived and got a little lost when he woke up, but a few minutes with some toys and he forgot where he was and offer me a some beautiful shots.

Mariah waited to be alone with me to ask : can we make a jumping picture ?

She is a lot of fun, and she is very pretty.

It was fast (not the plan at all !!), but it was fun :-)

Thanksgiving

Calgary nature photography

Thanksgiving, here in North America is a very important Holliday, due to its history and symbolism.

This year, I'm extremely thankful to Mother Nature for what she gave us as a gift :

We decided to spend this long weekend in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. To make it simple to Gauthier, I told him : it's up north, quite close to Santa's !! He then realized we gonna be cold !!

I thought we already have been lucky enough to discover how big and beautiful is Canada ........... I was so wrong !!

Yukon is huge, Yukon has no limit in beauty, Yukon is amazing.

We booked our flight, rented a hotel room and a car, and went wandering in this unknown place : we loved it.

We also made a dream come true by contacting Northern-Tales-Travel-Services-Inc and by booking with them a night of aurora seeing : the best choice on earth !!

We spent 4 days over there, and we'll never forget them, it was a wonderful "close to the nature" experience, even the boys want to go back in the heart of the winter.

We met some extremely nice people who all took the time to speak with us, to explain us what we wanted to know, who answered our questions ............. it was quite a good time.

So coming from France where we don't celebrate Thanksgiving (because we have no reason why we should), I can tell I'm Thankful to this country for giving me the opportunity to feed my starving of nature.

What a lovely idea coming from Jay.

Her best friend Sandra gave birth beginning of september, she had a beautiful little Paige.

Instead of buying a Pyjamas, or a sweater, Jay decided to give her the present of a photo session. Isn't it sweet ?

She called me and we planed it for a sunday afternoon, when everybody was home, relaxed.

Madison (5 years old) opened the door when I arrived, she was beautiful. She is such a lovely little girl, full of life and interested in the world around her. I had instantly a good feeling with her, and as a little "cuty boss", she managed everything.

She also played with the camera, she actually liked it and I had so much fun with her.

Thank you very much Jay, for giving me the opportunity to meet such a lovely family, and thank you Sandra and Mark for letting me enter your privacy to take those pictures of your lovely little girls.

I realize how late I am posting on this blog.

The 28th of August, Ayda and Amanuel tied the knot and I WAS THERE , with my camera and with Evgeniya (my assistant) : fully concentration, job perfect !!

These 2 days were full of emotion, stress, beauty, friendship, love .............

Saturday was the DAY 1, as we named it for the post treatment.

Early birds, we arrived at 7:00 am for the getting ready, and then came the church, the outdoor picninc and pictures, the studio shoot in the hotel room (In 15 minutes, the studio was built, the lights were on, the furniture was removed and changed for the shoot, ....... the couple was sitting and posing for the pictures.We did good :-) ), and finally the reception.

And came DAY 2 : we were thinking it's going to be easier than DAY 1 ........ ha ha ha, not at all !! Same process (without the church), getting ready and reception. It was so nice, people were more relax, smiling a lot, coming to us to have their child photographed, offering us drinks and chairs to sit down......

It was the first time I was going to an Ethiopian wedding, I will never stop being thankful to Ayda and Amanuel for allowing me to share this day with them, and showing me a different culture than the one I was in used with. It was an amazing weekend I will never forget.

Monday, the weather was beautiful, big bright sun in the sky :-)

At 5 PM, I had to meet Cherish and Jason for a mini engagement photo session.

As I said, the weather was nice so I took the boys with me (it's always better to be outside than to play video games ................. I'm not sure they first shared this idea ........)

We didn't get to wait too long since my "guests" came right after we arrived.

Cherish was sick, Jason was tired ......... but we really made it happen with a big smile and a lot of love.

Emotions were present, I was impress by Cherish, she was sick, very uncomfortable at the beginning, but so beautiful.

Thank you the two of you for being available at the last minute,

I'm looking forward for your wedding in December.

I got hired by an oil and gas company to take some pictures of their parts. I know, it's less interesting than babies or couples, but it teaches a lot actually.
I had to play with the light to be able to get the perfect colour and shape, no reflexion ........... it's not an easy job, and the post treatment has to be done extremely fast (let's say I took the pictures on tuesday, they had to get ready on ............ monday !!! ha ha ha).
I like this pressure a lot, I love the contact with the people on their place of work ......... I love my job !!

It seems a while since I post something on this blog.
The summer has been pretty busy, I went back to school to obtain a Canadian Certificate in Photography at SAIT.
All my training was made in France, and I learned the hard way that I had to provide my customer a Canadian knowledge, and some canadian diploma will help me. SO I signed for this fast track program and I learned a lot.

That actually improved my photography drastically and .............. I love it.

Engagement photo session

Ayda and Amanuel are getting married end of August, and to get to know them better, we decided to have an engagement photo session.

The meeting point was the Fish Creek Park in Calgary and, as a big surprise, I manage to have a BIG HUGE prop : an Excalibur (thank you so much Andy :-) ) !!

Amanuel was so excited, just like a kid in front of a candy store !!!

The session turned out amazingly, we had a lot of fun, in spite of the cool temperature, it was just a BLAST !!

When Baby Daniel was born, I went to meet him and took some pictures, he was 10 days old !!, (you can see the pictures here : Daniel)

Last week, his parents came to my home for a family photo session. Such a pleasure to see them again, thank you so much for coming, I had a blast during this session.

Sherry's Family

When I first met Sherry, she gave me the feeling that I knew her already. She is this kind of outgoing person everybody would like to meet at least once. She analyses everything, doesn't comment, but helps people to find their way. I felt in complete confidence with her, I knew that this meeting would be important for me ......... and it is.

She hired me for a family photo session with her grand-children she nicknames her Diamonds, and she is right to do so :

3 500 photographers from all over the world had the same idea and .......... I ended up a a finalist, in the first 100 of the contest.

When Leslie came to see me, asking about my photo sessions, Jaxon was in the stroller. This little guy was 14 month old at the time of the session, he is simply CUTE !!

Engagement session

When I first met Amy and Matthew, we spoke about their session, what they would like to do, wich kind of pictures.

Then, our meeting point was the Bowness Park (in Calgary), on saturday afternoon. The weather was nice, not too cold (in spite of the fact that we were mid-november), the light was perfect, the atmosphere was : fall !!

Everything went very well, we had a lot of fun doing these pictures.

Look at the result : it shaws exactly how beautiful is this couple.

Horses

When I decided to create my company in photography, I would have never thought about capturing horses, but ....... I actually did it, and I truly enjoyed it. These animals are majestic, so beautiful ...........

I was hired for this session by 3 sisters who wanted to give a unique Christmas gift to their Dad who is in love with his horses. I bet one or two of these pictures will end up on a canvas (I truly hope, because I'm sure it would be amazing) hanging on a wall.
